We are looking to recruit a full-time Web Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previously developed web based applications from the ground up.
What you will be doing
- Designing and implementing websites and web applications.
- Maintaining and improving our existing portfolio of websites and web applications.
- Developing and maintaining site APIs.
- Developing apps for third-party environments such as Facebook and iPhone.
Essential skills and qualifications
- A high level of self-motivatation and proactiveness.
- Ability and willingness to learn.
- Attention to detail, a positive attitude, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Independent problem solving skills and flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
- Prior experience of developing database-driven websites.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of PHP.
- Strong CSS, XML and XHTML skills.
- Good understanding of Javascript and AJAX.
Addition skills that would be beneficial
- Creation and manipulation of graphics.
- Exposure to MySQL or other RDBMS.
- Some experience with a Unix/Linux CLI environment.
- Familiarity with SVN or other version control systems.
- Some experience with, or understanding of, APIs.
Salary and benefits
The right candidate will receive a competitive salary plus 20 days annual leave per year.
Location
You'll be working from our Islington offices in central London.

About the company
Blue Compass is a small but rapidly-growing company which runs a number of different websites in the fields of arts-based recruitment, event listings, online dating and social networking. The office environment, whilst hard-working, is relaxed and informal.
This is the first dedicated developer role for the company, and you will be working with the Technical Director and System Administator.
